5 Castles to visit in the UK

I LOVE a good castle!

Who doesn't! Especially when it holds so much history and importance on our countries past.

This summer, I was ever so eager to experience a castle or two and managed to visit Ann Boleyn's childhood home, Hever Castle.

And I loved it soo much, I am determined to experience and visit many many more when I can.

The bigger, more medieval it is, the better! If it offers dungeons and mazes, it's a winner! Here's my personal list of castles I want to visit!

Warwick Castle
Warwick Castle is a medieval castle developed from an original built by William the Conqueror in 1068. It holds a lot of history, and includes mazes and dungeons to explore too!

This castle looks super fun and one that's on top of my list to visit!

Bodium Castle
Bodium is a 14th-century moated castle. It was built in 1385 to defend the area against French invasion during the Hundred Years' War.

I love moated castles, and this one is a pretty picture. With free guided tours, and stunning surrounding landscapes, it's a perfect castle to experience the autumn colouring and a nice picnic!

There's even a little tea room to have a little rest!

Arundel Castle
Arundel Castle is a restored and remodelled medieval castle in Arundel.

Fairly similar to Hever, it has gorgeous gardens and space aplenty to relax, explore and venture around.

What makes it oh so more appealing is the surrounding village and the picturesque streets. There's plenty to keep you occupied that's why I'm oh so eager to plan a trip!

Dover Castle
Dover Castle is a medieval castle in Dover, Kent. It was founded in the 11th century and has been described as the "Key to England" due to its defensive significance throughout history.

I haven't really been to Dover other than to cross the channel, so to visit for the castle and mooch around Dover as a place is something I really want to do.

I've heard the castle is fantastic, with tunnels to explore and stunning views across the channel.

A castle on my must visit list for sure!

Leeds Castle

Leeds Castle is in Kent, England, 5 miles southeast of Maidstone. A castle has been on the site since 1119.

This is another castle I didn't know about until researching recently. What attracts me most to the castle is the vast history behind it.

I love anything related to the Tudor times, and the fact this castle has that and more is so exciting!

There's plenty of gardens to walk around and many have commented on the amount to see and do!

It's even named one of the prettiest castles!

Have you been to any of these castles?

Are there some that should be on my list?
